The One With The Suicide

Boltzmann derived the most fundamental equation which describes the evolution of any macroscopic physical system which we can think of.......from the equation we get probability distribution of the constituents of the system in phase space.The Boltzmann equation based on Newton's classical mechanics(thought to be time reversible) can lead to entropy(which gives the directionality to an event) in a real system,which is contradictory.This was a topic of intense debate during His time and even some of the greatest physicists stood against Boltzmann.He tried a lot of ways to explain,but failed, and at last He tried committing suicide and succeeded.This blog justifies Boltzmann's decision to end His life through a possible(crazy!!!)explanation. Physicist's and in general any researcher's dream is to completely understand what is happening in nature.He/She dedicates his/her entire life towards the same.We can only talk abt the success and failure of a person in explaining nature while he/she was alive. And,we think,no one has so far succeeded in completely explaining nature in his/her lifetime(otherwise we would not be doing what we are doing now - research).So the only thing which we can think abt(at the same time cannot think abt)is the success/failure of a person after death.The generally thought abt reasons for committing suicide - frustration,repeated failure etc may not be the actual ones.May be by ending their lives they were able to succeed in their attempts to understand the nature completely.We think Boltzmann belongs to this elite category of people who were ready to do anything to understand nature.The argument which we put to justify ending one's life as a means to understand life/nature is as follows - if one want to capture an image of how the Earth looks like he/she has to go out of Earth and look down. In a similar way if one wants to know abt life he/she has to go OUT OF IT!!!!!!(ending it!!!!).........
